When the oral evidence becomes a valuable proof of history…
People from Jewish Communities all around Greece (Salonica, Ioannina, Larissa, Trikala, Corfu, Athens) talk about their lives before, during and after the War.

They guide us to the places where they once played a major role: houses full of family moment which are gone forever… Streets, squares, railway stations… The protagonists of the documentary cover a wide range of War experiences: Others hid in order to save themselves, others took part in the “National Resistance” but most of them were carried to the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Bergen Belsen. When they went back to their birthplaces, they were like ghost towns! That’s where they tried to “reconstruct” their own lives from the very beginning…
The Geography of Memory documentary investigates the relationship between the experience of the Second World War and the places… as it was experienced by the few Jews who survived the Holocaust.
